Teens - Becoming My Personal Best |
Family Empowerment & Mediation Services teen workshops provide the participants an opportunity to look at their behavior to see the choices they make cause negative or positive consequences, and a process for changing the negative behaviors they wish to improve on while reinforcing positive choices they are presently making. We focus on the process of changing self-destructive behaviors at the individual level so that teenagers can become critical thinkers, and responsible contributing members of society.
In 1947 the World Health Organization defined health as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing". Family Empowerment Services understand the importance of providing programs that promote the overall well being of the individual. Our programs build confidence, positive attitude, reduces stress and disease.
The mind and body are inseparable. Our mental health can affect our physical health, and physical health impact mental health. Physical activities boost the release of endorphins in the brain which promote the feelings of wellbeing. It can instantly lift moods. Being active provides a positive diversion from negative thinking.
Combining workshops with physical activities is the ultimate holistic approach to healthy mind, body and spirit.

Building Children's Character |
Our Building Children's Character workshops promote core universal moral values, such as respect, responsibility, honesty, and fairness. These values cut across all ethnic, cultural, and religious boundaries. We believe that teaching such values is essential for a healthy and functioning society.
Family Empowerment & Mediation Services is dedicated to helping children commit to, and act on these essential virtues. Our workshops give children the opportunity to express and discuss their ideas about such virtues.

The Parenting workshops build on personal and family strengths and leads adults through an exploration of themselves and the dynamics of interrelationships. Two theories are basic for the Empowered Parent workshops. Lifespan development theory suggests that the potential for change is ever-present: choices can be made at any point along the developmental continuum. Family system theory explores the complex nature of individuals effecting institutions, as these same institutions are affecting the life experiences of the individuals.

We're Changing The World One Girl At A Time!
The adolescent years provide an opportunity to prevent the onset of problems and change patterns of behaviour that have not been firmly established. Intervention allows for the introduction and enhancement of social and coping strategies that can have a lifelong impact on adolescent girls. This empowering prevention/intervention program is to help girls develop a lifelong perspective about living as a female in society, provide protection from negative sources of influence, and a lasting base of information for girls transitioning from adolescent to adult life.
Adolescents' Mental Health Needs: Girls Invisible Problems:
It is important to recognize that girls in today's society face a myriad of problems-many of which have the potential to become serious life issues.
The female adolescent in our society is particularly susceptible to what may be described as a group of "invisible" or "inwardly directed" problems including (but not limited to) depression, eating disorders, and poor body image. Although these problems may be less noticeable than delinquency, they are quite serious, and many teenage girls are in dire need of services and help. Because these problems are easily hidden, girls who require assistance may successfully conceal them until they have reached a very serious level.
If we want to help young people, we need to pave a road for them that is easy to follow and will lead to a successful outcome. A social support group makes the prospect of receiving support more plausible since it is easier to acknowledge and address problems with the mutual support of others.
